82 vs New Zealand at Auckland 1994

An innings marked by blazing shots all round the wicket is also deserving of a footnote in Indian cricket history for this was the first time that Tendulkar opened the innings in an ODI. When the Indians went on their short tour of New Zealand early in 1994 Tendulkar was as usual firmly slotted in the middle order. But with regular opener Navjot Sidhu suffering from a neck strain Tendulkar offered to open the innings in the second ODI at Auckland. New Zealand were bowled out for 142 in the 50th over and such was Tendulkar’s brilliance that India reached their modest target in the 24th over with seven wickets to spare. Tendulkar just sailed into an attack that included Danny Morrison, Gavin Larsen, Chris Harris and Chris Pringle and hit 82 off just 49 balls. He put on 61 runs with Ajay Jadeja in nine overs and 56 in six overs with Vinod Kambli. He smashed three fours and a six off Larsen’s first over and by the time he was second out at 117 he had hit 15 fours and two sixes and the game was as good as over. Since then Tendulkar has stayed at the top of the order and going from strength to strength; only for very brief periods thereafter has he gone lower down the order.

Fire Incident at Kumbh Mela: A Year of Fire – Stay Alert

By Aryan Rana, Founder,  VRightpath Recently, a fire broke out in Sector 19 of the Kumbh Mela, near the Geeta Press stall. The incident was claimed via email by the KGF terrorist group. Fortunately, timely safety measures ensured that no casualties occurred. However, the event has sparked debates on social media, with some questioning why God, Sanatan Dharma, or saints didn’t intervene to prevent the fire, while science (fire brigade department and safety equipment) ultimately saved lives.  Read in Hindi This perspective reflects a misunderstanding of God’s blessings and His role in the world. God doesn’t directly intervene in every situation but blesses us with intelligence, wisdom, and knowledge to handle challenges effectively. Expecting miraculous intervention from God misinterprets the true nature of divine blessings. The True Nature of Divine Intervention Laws of Nature and Consequences Every action has consequences. Just as fire burns anything that is not fire-re...

In 2025, she attended the Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, deeply moved by Hindu teachings and spiritual practices. Under the guidance of her guru, Swami Kailashanand Giri, head seer of Panchayati Akhada Shri Niranjani, Laurene embraced Sanatan Dharma and was given the Hindu name 'Kamala.' Swami Kailashanand Giri shared that Laurene, having reached the pinnacle of material success, now seeks spiritual fulfillment and knowledge of Sanatan Dharma. Her simplicity, humility, and commitment to learning are evident in her lifestyle, as she stayed in the 'Shivir' for four days like a common devotee and follows a strict v...
